Points Lists
The biathlon points list will be posted here during the season. There are two separate points lists:
- The (Biathlon Points) Qualifying List - used to determine qualifiers for the Empire State Games
- The Percent Back List - used to determine the start order at Empires, division of athletes into three groups for the sport relay, and determining the New York Biathlon Team
Qualifying List (Biathlon Points)
Everyone who participates in an ESG qualifier event will be awarded points based
upon the following charts. Separate points lists will be maintained for
males and females in boys/ girls, youth, junior, senior, and masters competitor classes,
as well as the novice class. The points list will be posted by the Wednesday
after the race.
Qualifying Points = Race Points + Marksmanship Points
Race Points - based on finishing position

| 2nd Place: | 16 points | 7th Place: | 5 points |
| 3rd Place: | 13 points | 8th Place: | 3 points |
| 4th Place: | 11 points | 9th Place: | 2 points |
| 5th Place: | 9 points | 10th Place: | 1 points |
Marksmanship Points - NYSRRA Nordic members will receive 1 point for each target hit
Percent Back List
Each Race will be scored using a percent back system based on the following:

The "average race time" is the average finish time of the top three finishers (who have %-back points).

The "race points" is the average %-back of the top three finishers.

The times of competitors who ski shorter courses will be adjusted to give an estimate of their time on the longest course in the race.
